Whatever is shed is sufficient to cover the floor of a woodland with thick layers of pine trees There are some places where the needles are gathered collected, cleaned and put in bale bundles of pine straw.  There are a few spots where the needles are assembled gathered, cleaned and put in parcel packs of pine straw. This operation of creating bales can easily be completed from a small farm with a pitch fork while a tractor is used in large farms. There are several benefits gained from the pine straw that is used in landscape and it also becomes a product of changed reserve.

How To Mulch

In a landscape, flower beds and vegetable gardens benefit from attractive and clean mulch from pine straw. This is because the straw controls the temperature of the soil by maintaining the soil warm in the winter season and cool during the summer. Mulching also enhances the soil texture by relaxing the heavy soil. The soil also receives nutrients once the mulch breaks down. Invasive weed does not grow as pine straw inhibits this through the thick pine straw spread on the floor area.

Add D?cor

Pine straw at swift straw decorates the yard from its texture and long lasting color. If you the pine straws are spread all over leaving a zone for no-mowing the trees are then conspicuous. Straight passageways and areas that are not paved improve the landscape by giving it a woodland park outlook. If the pine straws are placed in walkways persons walking near the area will not be kicking the mud from the landscape.

Vegetable Gardening

We have seen that weed is inhibited by pine straws. In a vegetable garden the same case applies. You need to however apply a 6-inch pine straw layer. Spread the pine straws on the rows and keep the straw apart from the main stem of the plant. You will not find any weed invading your garden if you mulch it this way. If you want to have a defined border round the vegetable garden, the slash pine straw should be extended about 15 inches from the garden's outer edge.

Controls Erosion

If your landscape is sloppy pine straw mulching is beneficial. This is because there is interlocking of the needles to form a mat which does not erode. These needles do not blow away during the dry season so the act as an anchor to the soil.
